The Made in Qatar exhibition curated by Constantin Boym was part of the 2013 Tasmeen conference titled Hybrid Making. The idea of the exhibition was to connect a designer with a local fabricator in order to create a unique piece, well rooted into Doha’s production capabilities. We were paired with a company in the industrial area making parking shades, Abdullah Ibrahim Jaidah and Son’s, and we decided to celebrate the love for Qatari for automobiles.

The Shademobile is a portable device designed to protect vehicles from the harshness of the desert summer sun. As movable as a real car, the Shademobile duplicates the forms of the original vehicles parked below them. It provides adjustable relief in shadeless parking lots and it comes in two models: the mimetic Land Cruiser, for desert explorers, and the flashy Lamborghini Countach, for passionate racers. No matter where you go, the Shademobile will follow you, and your car, like your own shadow.

콘스탄틴 보이음이 기획한 메이드 인 카타르 전시회는 하이브리드 메이킹이라는 제목으로 진행된 2013 타스민 컨퍼런스의 일부였다. 전시회는 디자이너를 현지 제작자와 연결하여 도하의 생산기능에 뿌리내린 독창적인 작품을 만드는 것에 중점을 두었다. 우리는 주차장의 차양을 제작하는 업체인 ‘압둘라 이브라힘 자이다와 아들’와 짝을 이루었고 카타르의 대한 자동차에 대한 애정을 기리는 작품을 만들기로 결정했다.

쉐이드모빌은 사막의 여름 태양의 거친 환경에서 차량을 보호하도록 설계된 이동식 장치이다. 실제 자동차처럼 움직일 수 있는 쉐이드모빌은 그 아래에 주차된 원래 차량의 형태를 따라간다. 그늘이 없는 주차장에서 사용이 가능하며 사막 탐험가를 위한 랜드 크루저와 열정적인 레이서를 위한 화려한 람보르기니 쿤타치 두 가지 모델이 있다. 어디를 가든 쉐이드모빌은 당신과 당신의 차를 당신의 그림자처럼 따라다닐 것이다.
